Dejan Lukac Front-End Developer

Hello!

I'm Dejan Lukac and I'm seasoned Front-End Developer with a creative bent based in Toronto, ON.

I also enjoy designing beautiful and interactive websites, creating intuitive, easy to use user interfaces and developing web & mobile applications.

My background in video editing and motion graphics helps me tell a story much more effectively. I believe that animation brings digital products to life and, if used right, helps to create better user experience.

Over 15 years of experience in digital space doing web development, UI and web design, motion graphics, videography and my overall perpetual desire to keep learning has kept me highly competitive and keen on effectively solving problems and looking for new and innovative solutions.

I have had the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects; from large information portals, to small-business sites. I specialize in building consistent cross-browser, device agnostic, responsive web sites. In addition, I have strong understanding of mobile platforms (IOS and Android) and experience developing web and hybrid applications for mobile devices.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE:

  • Front-End Development
  • eDetailing/IVAs (Interactive Visual Aids - Veeva iRep, IQ Mercury, Adobe DPS)
  • Web/UI Design
  • Search Engine Optimization - SEO
  • Hybrid Mobile Application Development
  • Motion Graphics and 3D Animation
  • Video Production (Editing, Compositing and Encoding)

My Work Websites

The work I provide is of highest quality, fully responsive, and tested on a wide range of devices.

I now specialise in front-end development but my knowledge of multiple fields allows me to work on a project with the full scope in mind.

Rather than create websites on a page-by-page basis, I instead consider each element of a design as separate components that can exist elsewhere on a website. With these components I produce a style guide that acts as a document for a reusable and maintainable code base.

My Work IVAs

IVAs (Interactive Visual Aids), also called e-detailing, are digital tools used in pharmaceutical sales to detail doctors about specific products.

Complementing or replacing the traditional print Vis Aid, an Interactive Visual Aid (IVA) provides an opportunity to increase the level of interaction and engagement with the physician.

I've programmed hundreds of IVAs with interactive elements, animated charts that expand to show more data, models of drugs or molecules that rotate in 3D space and quizzes to help foster better retention.

Playground Plugins

lightSweep.js is a jQuery plugin that generates animated 'light sweep' effect on a selected element.

Download lightSweep.js from GitHub.

USAGE:

lightSweep('#elementID','duration [s]');

example: lightSweep('#banner','3s');

Playground Animations

Playground "Hologram"

My own "hologram" projector!

It's easiest to describe this as a hologram, but this is actually the result of the Pepper’s Ghost effect.

Pepper’s Ghost is an illusion effect that makes images appear like holograms. It is a common special effect technique used in theaters, amusement parks, concerts, and museums. The illusion is made possible with glass and light.

In this case, I'm using an old computer monitor as a projector. Video is projected onto a glass, 4-sided pyramid and light is reflected and refracted to produce an image that appears like a hologram.

The end result looks amazing, watch the video below!
